The largest producers of natural gas in Turkmenistan are Turkmengaz, China National Petroleum and Petroliam Nasional. Turkmengaz was the largest producer of natural gas in 2022 with output down by 31% on 2021.
China National Petroleum was the second-largest producer, with output down by 2%, and Petroliam Nasional was third with a decrease of 22% on the previous year.
There are three natural gas producing fields in Turkmenistan, all located onshore. The Mary Province has the majority of the natural gas fields in the country with two.
