Europe’s oil & gas industry saw a drop of 41.5% in deal activity during June 2019, when compared with the last 12-month average, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

A total of 24 oil & gas industry deals worth $786.26m were announced for the region in June 2019, against the 12-month average of 41 deals.

Of all the deal types, M&A saw most activity in June 2019 with 21 transactions, representing an 87.5% share for the region.

In second place was private equity with two deals, followed by venture financing deals with one transactions, respectively capturing an 8.3% and 4.2% share of the overall deal activity for the month.

In terms of value of deals, M&A was the leading category in Europe’s oil & gas industry with $765.69m, while private equity and venture financing deals totalled $16.5m and $4.07m, respectively.

Europe oil & gas industry deals in June 2019: Top deals

The top five oil & gas deals accounted for 98.6% of the overall value during June 2019.

The combined value of the top five oil & gas deals stood at $775.45m, against the overall value of $786.26m recorded for the month. The top announced oil & gas deal tracked by GlobalData in June 2019 was PTT Exploration and Production Public’s $622m acquisition of Partex Holding.

In second place was the $83m asset transaction with by Torm and in third place was Pelidona Services’ $46.55m stake acquisition of Regal Petroleum.

The $16.5m private equity deal with Carbios by BOLD Business Opportunities for L’Oreal Development, Copernicus Asset Management, Michelin Ventures and Truffle Capital and Wang Zhiqiang’s acquisition of Cosmo Soar for $7.4m held fourth and fifth positions, respectively.
