The Kinsale Area gas fields are located in the Celtic Sea, approximately 40km to 70km off the south coast of County Cork in Ireland. The fields include Kinsale Head, Ballycotton, South-West Kinsale and Seven Heads gas fields, which were developed between 1978 and 2003.

Readers of Offshore technology were asked if the UK Government should end subsidies for oil exploration and back up decommissioning instead. Out of the total 637 votes, 298 say no, new oil finds are essential to meet energy needs, while 260 think that yes, investing early will help meet climate targets and make the UK a world leader in decommissioning services, while 79 are unsure which would be more beneficial.
