Aghar is a producing conventional gas field located onshore Iran and is operated by South Zagros Oil and Gas Production. The field is located in block Aghar.

An expansion project is associated with the Aghar, namely Aghar Phase 2. This project is currently in the feed stage, expected to start in 2023.

Production from Aghar

The Aghar conventional gas field recovered 69.18% of its total recoverable reserves, with peak production in 2016. The peak production was approximately 875 Mmcfd of natural gas. Based on economic assumptions, production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2053. The field currently accounts for approximately 1% of the country’s daily output.


Remaining recoverable reserves

The field is expected to recover 450.47 Mmboe, comprised of 2,702.82 bcf of natural gas reserves. Aghar conventional gas field reserves accounts 0.15% of total remaining reserves of producing conventional gas fields globally.
