Alba is a producing heavy oil field located in shallow water in the UK and is operated by Ithaca MA . The field is located in block 16/26a AREA A – ALBA FIELD AREA, with water depth of 460 feet.
An expansion project is associated with the Alba, namely Alba Infill Drilling Project. This project is currently in the construction stage, expected to start in 2023.
Production from Alba
The Alba heavy oil field recovered 91.28% of its total recoverable reserves, with peak production in 1997. The peak production was approximately 90.78 thousand bpd of crude oil and condensate and 24 Mmcfd of natural gas. Based on economic assumptions, production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2041. The field currently accounts for approximately 1% of the country’s daily output.
Remaining recoverable reserves
The field is expected to recover 43.83 Mmboe, comprised of 40.83 Mmbbl of crude oil & condensate and 18 bcf of natural gas reserves. Alba heavy oil field reserves accounts 0.10% of total remaining reserves of producing heavy oil fields globally.
