Alba Heavy Oil Field, UK

Alba is a producing heavy oil field located in shallow water in the UK and is operated by Ithaca Oil and Gas. The field is located in block 16/26a AREA A – ALBA FIELD AREA, with water depth of 460 feet.

The field is owned by Waldorf Production, Mitsui, Delek Group, HitecVision, Stadtwerke Munchen, Centrica and EnQuest.


Production from Alba

The Alba heavy oil field recovered 91.04% of its total recoverable reserves, with peak production in 1997. The peak production was approximately 90.78 thousand bpd of crude oil and condensate and 24 Mmcfd of natural gas. Based on economic assumptions, production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2040. The field currently accounts for approximately 1% of the country’s daily output.


Remaining recoverable reserves

The field is expected to recover 44.92 Mmboe, comprised of 41.85 Mmbbl of crude oil & condensate and 18.46 bcf of natural gas reserves. Alba heavy oil field reserves accounts 0.10% of total remaining reserves of producing heavy oil fields globally.
