Argonauta is a producing heavy oil field located in ultra-deepwater in Brazil and is operated by Shell Brasil Petroleo. The field is located in block BC-10 (Argonauta), with water depth of 5,471 feet.

The field is owned by Oil and Natural Gas, Royal Dutch Shell and QatarEnergy.

Production from Argonauta

The Argonauta heavy oil field recovered 43.70% of its total recoverable reserves, with peak production in 2017. The peak production was approximately 35.14 thousand bpd of crude oil and condensate and 5 Mmcfd of natural gas. Based on economic assumptions, production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2041. The field currently accounts for approximately 1% of the country’s daily output.

Remaining recoverable reserves

The field is expected to recover 113.84 Mmboe, comprised of 112.1 Mmbbl of crude oil & condensate and 10.42 bcf of natural gas reserves. Argonauta heavy oil field reserves accounts 0.25% of total remaining reserves of producing heavy oil fields globally.
