Atapu is a producing conventional oil field located in ultra-deepwater in Brazil and is operated by Petroleo Brasileiro. The field is located in block Atapu and BM-S-11 (Oeste De Atapu), with water depth of 7,294 feet.
An expansion project is associated with the Atapu, namely Atapu North. This project is currently in the construction stage, expected to start in 2026.

Production from Atapu
The Atapu conventional oil field recovered 5.55% of its total recoverable reserves, with peak production expected in 2022. The peak production was approximately 138.59 thousand bpd of crude oil and condensate. Based on economic assumptions, production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2060. The field currently accounts for approximately 4% of the country’s daily output.
Remaining recoverable reserves
The field is expected to recover 845.27 Mmboe, comprised of 845.27 Mmbbl of crude oil & condensate. Atapu conventional oil field reserves accounts 0.18% of total remaining reserves of producing conventional oil fields globally.
