Bakken Shale witnessed a decrease of 14.22% in total oil and gas production to 17,45,702.96 boe/d in April 2020 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s USL48 database.
The oil and gas production in Bakken declined 11% in April 2020 from 19,61,394.13 boe/d in April 2019. On a YTD basis, the total oil and gas production in the play increased by 2.85% from the same period in 2019.
In Bakken, oil production declined 14.66% in April 2020 as compared with the previous month, while gas production decreased by 13.09% to 2,844.39 mmcf/d.
On a YTD basis, oil production in the play increased by 0.75% in 2020 when compared with the same period in 2019, while gas production rose by 8.82%. Out of the total oil and gas production in April 2020, oil held a 71.91% share, while gas had a 28.09% share.
In Bakken, Continental Resources emerged as the largest oil and gas producer, recording a total oil and gas production at 2,27,169.72 boe/d in April 2020, a decrease of 25.24% from the previous month. The company held a 12.26% share in oil production and 14.95% share in gas production in April 2020.
On a YTD basis, the company registered a 2.02% decrease in total oil and gas production from the same period in 2019.
Compared with other counties within Bakken Shale, Mckenzie county recorded the highest oil and gas production, holding a 42.6% share in April 2020. The county witnessed an 11.86% decrease in production to 7,43,686.57 boe/d in April 2020 when compared with the previous month.
On a YTD basis, it registered an increase of 1.09% in total production from the same period in 2019.
