Baronia is a producing heavy oil field located in shallow water in Malaysia and is operated by PETRONAS Carigali International Sdn. The field is located in block SK 307 and Baram Delta, with water depth of 259 feet.
Two expansion projects are associated with the Baronia heavy oil field, namely Bokor Betty Rejuvenation and Bakau Non-Associated Gas Development Project. The expansion projects are currently in the construction stage.

Production from Baronia
The Baronia heavy oil field recovered 77.34% of its total recoverable reserves, with peak production in 1978. The peak production was approximately 41.91 thousand bpd of crude oil and condensate. Based on economic assumptions, production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2043. The field currently accounts for approximately 1% of the country’s daily output.

The field is expected to recover 59.6 Mmboe, comprised of 59.6 Mmbbl of crude oil & condensate. Baronia heavy oil field reserves accounts 0.14% of total remaining reserves of producing heavy oil fields globally.
