Cheal is a producing conventional oil field located onshore New Zealand and is operated by Tamarind Resources. The field is located in block 174E39/14 (PMP 38156).

Production from Cheal

The Cheal conventional oil field recovered 79.59% of its total recoverable reserves, with peak production in 2015. The peak production was approximately 1.37 thousand bpd of crude oil and condensate and 1 Mmcfd of natural gas. Based on economic assumptions, production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2040. The field currently accounts for approximately 1% of the country’s daily output.


Remaining recoverable reserves

The field is expected to recover 1.32 Mmboe, comprised of 0.81 Mmbbl of crude oil & condensate and 3.04 bcf of natural gas reserves.
