Dukhan Conventional Oil Field, Qatar

Dukhan is a producing conventional oil field located onshore Qatar and is operated by QatarEnergy. The field is located in block Block 9.

Two expansion projects are associated with the Dukhan conventional oil field, namely Dukhan Redevelopment (CO2 Water-Alternating-Gas (WAG) Pilot Project) and Dukhan Redevelopment (Enhanced Water Flood (EWF) Project). The expansion projects are currently in the construction stage, targeting start-up during 2022 – 2028.

The field is owned by QatarEnergy.

Production from Dukhan

The Dukhan conventional oil field recovered 82.36% of its total recoverable reserves, with peak production in 2007. The peak production was approximately 305.69 thousand bpd of crude oil and condensate, 591 Mmcfd of natural gas and 50 thousand bpd of natural gas liquids. Based on economic assumptions, production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2054. The field currently accounts for approximately 5% of the country’s daily output.

Remaining recoverable reserves

The field is expected to recover 1,281.92 Mmboe, comprised of 1,250.52 Mmbbl of crude oil & condensate and 188.36 bcf of natural gas reserves. Dukhan conventional oil field reserves accounts 0.28% of total remaining reserves of producing conventional oil fields globally.
