Gbaran is a producing conventional gas field located onshore Nigeria and is operated by Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria. The field is located in block OML 28.
An expansion project is associated with the Gbaran, namely Gbaran Nodal Compression. This project is currently in the construction stage, expected to start in 2022.
Field participation details
The field is owned by Nigerian National Petroleum, Royal Dutch Shell, TotalEnergies and Eni.
Production from Gbaran
The Gbaran conventional gas field recovered 70.80% of its total recoverable reserves, with peak production in 2014. The peak production was approximately 12.07 thousand bpd of crude oil and condensate and 273 Mmcfd of natural gas. Based on economic assumptions, production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2042. The field currently accounts for approximately 1% of the country’s daily output.
Remaining recoverable reserves
The field is expected to recover 83.96 Mmboe, comprised of 10.02 Mmbbl of crude oil & condensate and 443.66 bcf of natural gas reserves. Gbaran conventional gas field reserves accounts 0.03% of total remaining reserves of producing conventional gas fields globally.
Information on the field is sourced from GlobalData’s fields database that provides detailed information on all producing, announced and planned oil and gas fields globally. Not all companies mentioned in the article may be currently existing due to their merger or acquisition or business closure.
