Gumusut-Kakap is a producing conventional oil field located in deepwater in Malaysia and is operated by Shell Malaysia . The field is located in block Block J and Block K, with water depth of 3,037 feet.
Two expansion projects are associated with the Gumusut-Kakap conventional oil field, namely Gumusut-Kakap Phase 3 and Gumusut-Kakap Phase 4. The expansion projects are currently in the construction and feasibility stage.
Production from Gumusut-Kakap
The Gumusut-Kakap conventional oil field recovered 60.66% of its total recoverable reserves, with peak production in 2016. The peak production was approximately 157.4 thousand bpd of crude oil and condensate. Based on economic assumptions, production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2035. The field currently accounts for approximately 6% of the country’s daily output.

The field is expected to recover 230.55 Mmboe, comprised of 230.55 Mmbbl of crude oil & condensate. Gumusut-Kakap conventional oil field reserves accounts 0.05% of total remaining reserves of producing conventional oil fields globally.
