Kashagan Conventional Oil Field, Kazakhstan

Kashagan is a producing conventional oil field located in shallow water in Kazakhstan and is operated by North Caspian Operating. The field is located in block Kashagan-Kayran-Aktota, with water depth of 20 feet.

Six expansion projects are associated with the Kashagan conventional oil field, namely Kashagan Future Gas Expansion (Phase A), Kashagan CFP, Kashagan Southwest, Kashagan Phase 2, Aktote and Kairan . The expansion projects are currently in the feasibility, construction and feed stage.

The field is owned by Inpex, China National Petroleum, Others, National Company KazMunayGas, Eni, Exxon Mobil, Shell and TotalEnergies.


Production from Kashagan

The Kashagan conventional oil field recovered 11.36% of its total recoverable reserves, with peak production expected in 2025. The peak production will approximately 438.55 thousand bpd of crude oil and condensate and 1,061 Mmcfd of natural gas. Based on economic assumptions, production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2076. The field currently accounts for approximately 18% of the country’s daily output.


Remaining recoverable reserves

The field is expected to recover 5,152.62 Mmboe, comprised of 3,637.43 Mmbbl of crude oil & condensate and 9,091.1 bcf of natural gas reserves. Kashagan conventional oil field reserves accounts 1.12% of total remaining reserves of producing conventional oil fields globally.
