Khor Mor and Chemchemal is a producing conventional gas field located onshore Iraq and is operated by Pearl Petroleum. The field is located in block Chemchemal and Khor Mor.

An expansion project is associated with the Khor Mor and Chemchemal, namely Khor Mor Expansion. This project is currently in the construction stage, expected to start in 2023.

The field is owned by RWE, OMV, MOL Hungarian Oil and Gas, Crescent Group Holdings and Dana Gas.


Production from Khor Mor and Chemchemal

The Khor Mor and Chemchemal conventional gas field recovered 13.15% of its total recoverable reserves, with peak production expected in 2025. The peak production will approximately 41.03 thousand bpd of crude oil and condensate, 899 Mmcfd of natural gas and 32.22 thousand bpd of natural gas liquids. Based on economic assumptions, production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2080. The field currently accounts for approximately 2% of the country’s daily output.


Remaining recoverable reserves

The field is expected to recover 2,235.48 Mmboe, comprised of 241.33 Mmbbl of crude oil & condensate, 10,828.87 bcf of natural gas reserves and 189.34 Mmbbl of natural gas liquid reserves. Khor Mor and Chemchemal conventional gas field reserves accounts 0.76% of total remaining reserves of producing conventional gas fields globally.
