Mahakam PSC Conventional Gas Field, Indonesia

Mahakam PSC is a producing conventional gas field located in shallow water in Indonesia and is operated by PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam. The field is located in block Mahakam block, with water depth of 297 feet.

Two expansion projects are associated with the Mahakam PSC conventional gas field, namely JSN Project (Jumelai – North Sisi -North Nubi) and Handil WF. The expansion projects are currently in the commissioning and approval stage.

The field is owned by PT Pertamina (Persero).

Production from Mahakam PSC

The Mahakam PSC conventional gas field recovered 93.97% of its total recoverable reserves, with peak production in 2006. The peak production was approximately 91.36 thousand bpd of crude oil and condensate and 2,983 Mmcfd of natural gas. Based on economic assumptions, production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2035. The field currently accounts for approximately 9% of the country’s daily output.

Remaining recoverable reserves

The field is expected to recover 318.34 Mmboe, comprised of 82.59 Mmbbl of crude oil & condensate and 1,414.46 bcf of natural gas reserves. Mahakam PSC conventional gas field reserves accounts 0.11% of total remaining reserves of producing conventional gas fields globally.
