Maromba Phase 1 is a heavy oil development located in shallow water in Brazil and is operated by BW Energy Maromba do Brasil. Discovered in 2003, Maromba Phase 1 lies in block BC-20 (Maromba), with water depth of around 538 feet.

The project is currently in approval stage and is expected to start commercial production in 2024. Final investment decision (FID) of the project will be approved in 2022. The development cost is expected to be $325 m. The Maromba Phase 1 heavy oil development will involve the drilling of approximately three wells and includes FPSO and subsea trees.

Production from Maromba Phase 1

Production from the Maromba Phase 1 heavy oil development project is expected to begin in 2025 and is forecast to peak in 2026, to approximately 22,458 bpd of crude oil and condensate. Based on economic assumptions, the production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2035.

Remaining recoverable reserves

The field is expected to recover 46.07 Mmboe, comprised of 46.07 Mmbbl of crude oil & condensate.
