Mississippi witnessed an increase of 18.7% in total oil and gas production to 1,04,987.3 boe/d in June 2020 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s USL48 database.

The oil and gas production declined 30.6% in June 2020 from 1,51,273.19 boe/d in June 2019. On a YTD basis, the total oil and gas production in 2020 decreased by 22.53% from the same period in 2019.

In June 2020, oil production grew 50.67% to 38,120.22 bd as against the previous month, while gas production up by 5.89% to 387.83 mmcf/d.

On a YTD basis, oil production decreased by 15.7% in 2020 when compared with the same period in 2019, while gas production declined by 25.29%. Out of the total oil and gas production in June 2020, oil held a 36.31% share, while gas had a 63.69% share.


In Mississippi, Denbury emerged as the largest oil and gas producer, recording a total oil and gas production at 73,551.19 boe/d in June 2020, an increase of 6.43% from the previous month. The company held a 48.31% share in oil production and 82.45% share in gas production in June 2020.

On a YTD basis, the company registered a 23.39% decrease in total oil and gas production from the same period in 2019.



Compared with other counties in Mississippi, Rankin county recorded the highest oil and gas production, holding a 37.44% share in June 2020. The county witnessed a 5.07% decrease in production to 39,310.97 boe/d in June 2020 when compared with the previous month.

On a YTD basis, Rankin registered a decline of 21.61% in total production from the same period in 2019.
