Mississippi witnessed a decrease of 13.41% in total oil and gas production to 1,31,179.79 boe/d in March 2020 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s USL48 database.
The oil and gas production declined 22.32% in March 2020 from 1,68,880.22 boe/d in March 2019. On a YTD basis, the total oil and gas production in 2020 decreased by 12.61% from the same period in 2019.
In March 2020, oil production declined 7.09% to 43,298.03 bd as against the previous month, while gas production declined by 16.22% to 509.71 mmcf/d.
On a YTD basis, oil production decreased by 3.76% in 2020 when compared with the same period in 2019, while gas production declined by 16.05%. Out of the total oil and gas production in March 2020, oil held a 33.01% share, while gas had a 66.99% share.
In Mississippi, Denbury Resources emerged as the largest oil and gas producer, recording a total oil and gas production at 93,479.46 boe/d in March 2020, a decrease of 14.86% from the previous month. The company held a 43.57% share in oil production and 84.91% share in gas production in March 2020.
On a YTD basis, the company registered a 15.07% decrease in total oil and gas production from the same period in 2019.
Compared with other counties in Mississippi, Rankin county recorded the highest oil and gas production, holding a 42.86% share in March 2020. The county witnessed an 8.82% decrease in production to 56,218.64 boe/d in March 2020 when compared with the previous month.
On a YTD basis, Rankin registered a decline of 11.32% in total production from the same period in 2019.
