Murzuq is a producing conventional oil field located onshore Libya and is operated by Akakus Oil Operations. The field is located in block NC 186 (Area 130 & 131).

The field is owned by Equinor, TotalEnergies, OMV, Repsol and National Oil Corporation of Libya.


Production from Murzuq

The Murzuq conventional oil field recovered 83.12% of its total recoverable reserves, with peak production in 2010. The peak production was approximately 115.17 thousand bpd of crude oil and condensate. Based on economic assumptions, production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2028. The field currently accounts for approximately 8% of the country’s daily output.


Remaining recoverable reserves

The field is expected to recover 73.9 Mmboe, comprised of 73.9 Mmbbl of crude oil & condensate. Murzuq conventional oil field reserves accounts 0.02% of total remaining reserves of producing conventional oil fields globally.
