North Azadegan is a producing heavy oil field located onshore Iran and is operated by Arvandan Oil & Gas. The field is located in block West Karoun.
An expansion project is associated with the North Azadegan, namely North Azadegan Phase 2 . This project is currently in the approval stage.

Production from North Azadegan
The North Azadegan heavy oil field recovered 27.93% of its total recoverable reserves, with peak production in 2020. The peak production was approximately 77.6 thousand bpd of crude oil and condensate and 40 Mmcfd of natural gas. Based on economic assumptions, production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2081. The field currently accounts for approximately 1% of the country’s daily output.
Remaining recoverable reserves
The field is expected to recover 410.51 Mmboe, comprised of 351.97 Mmbbl of crude oil & condensate and 351.22 bcf of natural gas reserves. North Azadegan heavy oil field reserves accounts 0.94% of total remaining reserves of producing heavy oil fields globally.
