Oseberg is a producing conventional oil field located in shallow water in Norway and is operated by Equinor Energy. The field is located in block 30/6P (PL 053), 30/9P (PL 079), and 30/9P (PL 104), with water depth of 374 feet.
An expansion project is associated with the Oseberg, namely Oseberg Gas Capacity Upgrade & Power from Shore Project (OGP). This project is currently in the construction stage, expected to start in 2026.
Production from Oseberg
The Oseberg conventional oil field recovered 88.50% of its total recoverable reserves, with peak production in 1994. The peak production was approximately 503.05 thousand bpd of crude oil and condensate. Based on economic assumptions, production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2036. The field currently accounts for approximately 5% of the country’s daily output.
Remaining recoverable reserves
The field is expected to recover 388.86 Mmboe, comprised of 46.59 Mmbbl of crude oil & condensate, 1,858.37 bcf of natural gas reserves and 32.54 Mmbbl of natural gas liquid reserves. Oseberg conventional oil field reserves accounts 0.08% of total remaining reserves of producing conventional oil fields globally.
