Prelude Conventional Gas Field, Australia

Prelude is a producing conventional gas field located in shallow water in Australia and is operated by Shell Australia. The field is located in block WA-44-L, with water depth of 777 feet.

The field is owned by Shell, CPC, Inpex and Korea Gas.

Production from Prelude

The Prelude conventional gas field recovered 21.15% of its total recoverable reserves, with peak production expected in 2024. The peak production will approximately 26.07 thousand bpd of crude oil and condensate, 8.02 thousand bpd of natural gas liquids and 473 Mmcfd of liquid natural gas. Based on economic assumptions, production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2037. The field currently accounts for approximately 4% of the country’s daily output.

Remaining recoverable reserves

The field is expected to recover 292.92 Mmboe, comprised of 70.87 Mmbbl of crude oil & condensate, 1,205.74 bcf of liquid natural gas reserves and 21.1 Mmbbl of natural gas liquid reserves. Prelude conventional gas field reserves accounts 0.10% of total remaining reserves of producing conventional gas fields globally.
