Roncador Conventional Oil Field, Brazil

Roncador is a producing conventional oil field located in ultra-deepwater in Brazil and is operated by Petroleo Brasileiro. The field is located in block RO (Roncador), with water depth of 6,234 feet.

An expansion project is associated with the Roncador, namely Roncador IOR. This project is currently in the feasibility stage, expected to start in 2022.

The field is owned by Petroleo Brasileiro and Equinor.


Production from Roncador

The Roncador conventional oil field recovered 78.41% of its total recoverable reserves, with peak production in 2009. The peak production was approximately 353.51 thousand bpd of crude oil and condensate and 177 Mmcfd of natural gas. Based on economic assumptions, production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2043. The field currently accounts for approximately 5% of the country’s daily output.


Remaining recoverable reserves

The field is expected to recover 424.43 Mmboe, comprised of 355.3 Mmbbl of crude oil & condensate and 414.82 bcf of natural gas reserves. Roncador conventional oil field reserves accounts 0.09% of total remaining reserves of producing conventional oil fields globally.
