Shenzi is a producing conventional oil field located in deepwater in the US and is operated by BHP Billiton Petroleum (GOM). The field is located in block Green Canyon 653, Green Canyon 609, Green Canyon 610, and Green Canyon 654, with water depth of 4,400 feet.
Two expansion projects are associated with the Shenzi conventional oil field, namely Shenzi SSMPP and Shenzi Growth Opportunities. The expansion projects are currently in the construction and feasibility stage, targeting start-up during 2022 – 2026.
Field participation details
The field is owned by BHP and Repsol.
Production from Shenzi
The Shenzi conventional oil field recovered 79.90% of its total recoverable reserves, with peak production in 2010. The peak production was approximately 97.78 thousand bpd of crude oil and condensate and 37 Mmcfd of natural gas. Based on economic assumptions, production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2034.
Remaining recoverable reserves
The field is expected to recover 89.95 Mmboe, comprised of 85.04 Mmbbl of crude oil & condensate and 29.48 bcf of natural gas reserves. Shenzi conventional oil field reserves accounts 0.02% of total remaining reserves of producing conventional oil fields globally.
