Umid is a producing conventional gas field located in shallow water in Azerbaijan and is operated by Umid, Babek Exploration and Production. The field is located in block Umid-Babek, with water depth of 191 feet.

An expansion project is associated with the Umid, namely Umid Development. This project is currently in the construction stage.

The field is owned by State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic and Nobel Oil E and P UK.


Production from Umid

The Umid conventional gas field recovered 16.99% of its total recoverable reserves, with peak production expected in 2023. The peak production will approximately 7.7 thousand bpd of crude oil and condensate and 166 Mmcfd of natural gas. Based on economic assumptions, production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2069. The field currently accounts for approximately 3% of the country’s daily output.


Remaining recoverable reserves

The field is expected to recover 193.87 Mmboe, comprised of 44.4 Mmbbl of crude oil & condensate and 896.8 bcf of natural gas reserves. Umid conventional gas field reserves accounts 0.07% of total remaining reserves of producing conventional gas fields globally.
