Utah oil and gas production activity declined by 8.45% in April 2020

Utah witnessed a decrease of 8.45% in total oil and gas production to 1,97,810.73 boe/d in April 2020 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s USL48 database.

The oil and gas production declined 16.23% in April 2020 from 2,36,142.77 boe/d in April 2019. On a YTD basis, the total oil and gas production in 2020 decreased by 7.94% from the same period in 2019.

In April 2020, oil production declined 14.99% to 80,539.43 bd as against the previous month, while gas production declined by 3.33% to 680.17 mmcf/d.

On a YTD basis, oil production decreased by 9.96% in 2020 when compared with the same period in 2019, while gas production declined by 6.35%. Out of the total oil and gas production in April 2020, oil held a 40.72% share, while gas had a 59.28% share.


In Utah, Caerus Production emerged as the largest oil and gas producer, recording a total oil and gas production at 40,742.01 boe/d in April 2020, a decrease of 0.64% from the previous month. The company held a 1.47% share in oil production and 33.73% share in gas production in April 2020.

On a YTD basis, the company registered an 11.24% decrease in total oil and gas production from the same period in 2019.



Compared with other counties in Utah, Uintah county recorded the highest oil and gas production, holding a 50.69% share in April 2020. The county witnessed a 5.58% decrease in production to 1,00,262.94 boe/d in April 2020 when compared with the previous month.

On a YTD basis, Uintah registered a decline of 5.75% in total production from the same period in 2019.
