Saudi Aramco Upstream Technology Company (SAUTC), a Saudi Aramco company, and Russia-based Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for research on upstream technology.

Pursuant to the terms of the MoU, both the entities will collaborate in the area of research, which will mainly focus on oil exploration and gas industry innovation with a specific focus on upstream technology. Both the stakeholders will also launch programmes and projects for developing new advanced materials applied in the oil and gas industry.

They will concentrate on devising new methods and techniques for reservoir and oilfield data acquisition, analysis and computational modelling.

As part of the collaboration, both parties will organise bilateral joint laboratories, workshops and conferences.

Plans are being considered to set up a new Saudi Aramco Research Center at MSU Science Park in Moscow.
