ABB Energy Industries managing director Kevin Kosisko said: “With our deep domain expertise across the energy industries, ABB is uniquely positioned to assist Equinor in extending the lifetime of its existing installed base, encompassing 19 offshore and four onshore sites around the world.”

The company collaborated with Equinor for more than three decades to provide innovative options for cleaner energy and increased automation.

ABB supported Equinor in various projects and operations since the mid-1980s, which include the provision of integrated safety and automation, electrical and telecommunication systems to the new Aasta Hansteen gas field.

The company also supplied electrical and telecommunication systems for Equinor’s Mariner project in the North Sea and the Gina Krog project on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS).

Additionally, it served as the primary automation and electrical contractor for the Peregrino project offshore Brazil in the Campos Basin.

ABB is also delivering an integrated ABB Ability safety and automation system to the Johan Castberg floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) project.

Last May, ABB was selected to supply High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) converters to electrify the first phase of the Johan Sverdrup field development project in Norway.
