Norwegian engineering and contracting firm Aker Solutions has secured a letter of intent (LoI) from Equinor for the delivery of a subsea system for the Breidablikk project in the North Sea.
Breidablikk is a large oil discovery on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS). It is located north-east of the Grane field in the North Sea.
Situated at a water depth of 130m, Breidablikk will be developed as a tie-back to the Grane platform.
Under the contract, Aker Solutions will provide a complete subsea production system (SPS), and ancillary equipment which includes 15 subsea trees under first phase.
The contract is valued at approximately Nkr2bn ($206.5m).
Aker Solutions CEO Luis Araujo said: “We are delighted to be awarded a letter of intent by Equinor, which will lead to more activity at many of our facilities in Norway and beyond.”
Work will be carried out at the Norwegian contractor’s locations in Fornebu, Egersund, Tranby and Ågotnes. Additional deliveries will be from Malaysia, Brazil, and the UK.
The LoI is subject to final investment decision (FID) by Equinor and partners later this year and a final regulatory approval from Norwegian authorities.
Recently, Aker Solutions developed a modified workover system to enable safe well access for subsea installation and completion.
