Norwegian engineering and contracting firm Aker Solutions has won two contracts from US multinational energy company ConocoPhillips for the Tommeliten Alpha development offshore Norway.

The Tommeliten Alpha is a discovery in the southern portion of the Norwegian North Sea. It is located about 25km south-west of the Ekofisk field, in water depths of 75m.

Under the first contract, the Norwegian company will deliver the subsea production system (SPS) for the Tommeliten Alpha development.

Work also covers ten vertical subsea trees, two manifolds, wellheads, satellite structures, control systems as well as tie-in equipment.

This contract is valued at Nkr1.2bn (approximately $128m).

The company also secured a front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract from ConocoPhillips for modifications on the Ekofisk installations to integrate the Tommeliten Alpha discovery.

Valued at approximately Nkr130m ($13.8m), the FEED starts immediately and is expected to be completed in the second quarter of next year.

Aker Solutions brownfield projects executive vice-president Linda Litlekalsøy Aase said: “We are excited to work closely together with the field operator ConocoPhillips on the Tommeliten Alpha development.

“We will utilise our expertise in complex offshore modifications to find the most cost-efficient solution for this project.”

The FEED work for the Tommeliten Alpha development will be led by the contractor firm’s office in Stavanger, Norway.

Aker Solutions said that the contracts will be booked under the order intake of the third quarter of this year.

They are, however, subject to Norwegian authorities’ approval of the plan for development and operation (PDO) and a new award decision by the Tommeliten Alpha partnership.

Last month, Aker Solutions secured a three-year contract extension for maintenance and modification work from ConocoPhillips.
