Floating production solutions provider Amplus Energy Services has secured a contract from an undisclosed operator in Angola for the re-evaluation of the marginal fields’ development in the country.

The contract is aimed at developing economically viable field development solutions in the country.

Amplus Energy will manage the project from its headquarters in Aberdeen and collaborate with TechnipFMC and Halliburton to support the work on the six-month project.

Amplus Energy’s Angola-based partner Prodiaman Oil Services will provide local support.

Amplus Energy Services managing director Ian Herd said: “The lessons learned from this latest contract award will not only be strategically key for marginal field developments in Angola, but also in the North Sea, where there are more than 200 discoveries still to be developed with several billion barrels of oil available for recovery.

“Amplus Energy Services’ ongoing North Sea Production Club initiative, which is designed to make even the smallest fields economically viable, has been pivotal in helping Amplus Energy Services secure the marginal field development study contract in Angola.”

One of the company’s solutions for marginal field development is its versatile production unit (VPU), which is capable of supporting a range of production capacities.

Operating on dynamic positioning, VPU is fitted with a disconnectable turret buoy and can sit directly above the subsea production facilities, thereby reducing cost in every aspect of marginal field development.

Amplus Energy was formed in 2008 and aims to build a new fleet of VPUs for the global oil and gas industry.
