North Sea drilling contractor Awilco has partnered with enterprise applications company IFS to support its programme to build two sixth-generation, harsh-environment semi-submersible rigs.

Aberdeen-based Awilco will use IFS Applications, enterprise resource planning (ERP) software that supports mission-critical processes including maintenance, project management and human capital management

Awilco Drilling CEO Jens Berge said: “After a thorough assessment, we concluded that IFS was the most suitable ERP system for us. We look forward to working closely with IFS to establish an optimal system to support our ambitious business plans.”

The ERP software includes IFS Replication – a tool to manage data synchronisation between headquarters and units – and IFS IoT Business Connector, a tool used to capture data. Each rig will have sensors that will transmit data that will enable Awilco to digitally manage the vessels’ maintenance.

IFS managing director for the Nordics sector Elni Kullmer said: “We have a long track record of empowering offshore drilling companies and are thrilled to be part of Awilco Drilling’s transformational journey, which will leave them equipped with market-leading business applications and technology to make smarter and faster decisions.

“Digitalisation and automation have the potential to revolutionise business outcomes in the asset-intensive and project-driven oil and gas sector, and IFS has the tools and the know-how to bring these into reality.”
