Dutch global geological survey firm Fugro has secured a fourth consecutive contract from India’s state-owned Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) to provide integrated survey services.

Under the three-year contract, Fugro will provide infield developments on the east and west coasts of India. Work on the latest contract is currently underway.

Survey services under the contract include pipeline route engineering and rig site surveys.

Fugro will carry out the services using multibeam bathymetric, shallow seismic profiling, magnetometry and 2D ultra-high resolution (UHR).

The contract also includes rig positioning, current profile measurements and wellhead searches.

Fugro has mobilised its ‘Fugro Mapper’ geophysical survey vessel for the surveys. The survey team will perform operations in water depths of up to 100m.

According to Fugro, the final geo-data survey results will provide ONGC with the ‘seabed and sub-seabed insights’ required to develop key offshore infrastructure.

Fugro Marine Site Characterisation Middle East and India director Remmelt de Jong said: “Being awarded this multi-year contract for the fourth consecutive time demonstrates the value Fugro has brought to Indian offshore development and our clients.

“We are especially proud of the strong relationship we have forged with ONGC and we intend to maintain the exemplary health and safety record we achieved in the three previous contracts, with no major downtime or zero lost time incidents over the last nine years.”

In June, Fugro secured an inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM) contract from Seamec to support the latter’s asset management project for ONGC off the west coast of India.

In March, the company announced a partnership with technology company Sea-Kit International to develop drone ships for inspection vessel deployment.
