Danish rig operator Maersk Drilling has secured two contract extensions for its Maersk Resolute and Maersk Resolve vessels in the North Sea.

A contract awarded by Petrogas E&P Netherlands involves a 56-day contract extension for Maersk Resolute. The extension will allow the Resolute vessel to continue its work in the Dutch North Sea section.

Following the start of operations in June last year, the vessel has drilled multiple wells in the region including the shallowest horizontal gas well in the A&B area.

This extension increases the contract with Petrogas to a total of 106 days.

Under the second contract with Wintershall Noordzee, Maersk Resolve will continue its ongoing drilling programme in the North Sea for an additional 21 days.

“This extension increases the contract with Petrogas to a total of 106 days.”

The new extension extends the contract with Wintershall Noordzee to a total of 380 days, and will include work at the Ravn field in the Danish North Sea.
