McDermott International has completed its work at Reliance Industries operated KG-D6 Satellite Cluster Project, off the east coast of India.

The project involved many firsts, including the deepest pipelaying works in India.

Work included subsea pipelines and the installation of jumpers, umbilicals, in-line structures, pipelines, subsea manifolds and associated structures. It also included pre-commissioning of pipelines and umbilicals.

McDermott used Derrick Lay Vessel 2000 and North Ocean 102 for the project works.

Around 500 personnel were involved with installation and pre-commissioning activities at peak period.

McDermott International Asia Pacific senior vice-president Mahesh Swaminathan said: “McDermott’s work on the KG-D6 R and Satellite Cluster Projects included many firsts, including the deepest pipelay in India at 6,069ft (1,850m) and the first piggy-back pipelay by our Derrick Lay Vessel 2000.

The KG-D6 block lies in the Krishna-Godavari basin of the Bay of Bengal. The R-Cluster, Satellites Cluster and MJ fields in the block are estimated to have around three trillion cubic feet (tcf) of recoverable gas reserves.

Headquartered in the US, McDermott International focuses on providing engineering and construction solutions to the energy industry.

Last month, McDermott received a design contract for the Trion field development in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico.

The company will provide pre-front-end engineering design (pre-FEED) services for a floating production unit (FPU).
