Subsea engineering and applied technology firm Oceaneering International (OII) has secured a contract from units of BP.
It will provide comprehensive riserless light well intervention (RLWI) services offshore Angola.

The contract also covers well intervention services to Blocks 18 and 31 in Angola.
Oceaneering International said that it has scheduled to begin operations in the second quarter of this year. It expects completion in late fall.
Oceaneering International president and CEO Rod Larson said: “The award of this project reinforces Oceaneering’s position as a leading RLWI service provider in deepwater environments.
“This is the latest example that performing RLWI from a multi-purpose vessel is a viable, more efficient alternative for production enhancement compared to performing similar services from a rig or purpose-built intervention vessel.”

According to the company, these services will support a multi-well drilling programme, which includes mechanical well interventions and well stimulations.
The contract also encompasses project management, engineering, systems integration and offshore management.
BP Africa and Middle East Wells vice-president Jim O’Leary said: “Oceaneering has a proven track record of providing us with a much-needed RLWI rapid response solution to help restore and improve production in Angola.”
Last month, Oceaneering and Aquaterra Energy collaborated on decommissioning wells. Their partnership also offers late-life solution packages for the North Sea oil and gas industry.
