Petrobras has started oil and natural gas production through the P-76 floating, production, storage and offloading (FPSO) unit installed on the Búzios field in the pre-salt of the Santos Basin, offshore Brazil.

Discovered in 2010, the Búzios field is the main field under the transfer of rights agreement and started production last April.

Another platform, the P-77, is expected to start production this year.

The P-76 has a capacity to process up to 150,000 barrels of oil a day and can compress up to six million cubic metres of natural gas.

“The FPSO will also contribute to the growth of Petrobras’ production.”

Out of a total of four platforms planned for this year, the P-76 is the second one to start-up, in line with Petrobras Strategic Plan.

The FPSO will also contribute to the growth of Petrobras’ production. It is located 180km off the coast of the state of Rio de Janeiro, at a water depth of 2,030m.

The P-76 is connected to ten producing wells and seven injector wells. Relief vessels will be used to offload oil production, while gas will be drained using pre-salt pipeline routes.

Petrobras noted that works related to the completion of the hull conversion, the integration of the modules and the final platform commissioning were carried out in Paraná.

Prior to this, Petrobras started production at its P-75 platform in the pre-salt area of the Santos Basin last November.

The P-75 unit is also located in the Búzios field at a water depth of 2,000m.

In October, the company’s P-69 FPSO in the Lula Extreme South area of the Santos Basin started production.
