Scottish entrepreneurs Robbie Garden and Robbie Gray have launched a joint venture (JV) with Norwegian offshore equipment provider JB Well Solutions to improve safety in the oil and gas industry.
During its first trading quarter, JB Well Solutions UK announced contract awards of more than £100,000.

JB Well Solutions managing director Gisle Ødemotland told Offshore Technology: “The new venture in the UK means we have local presentation in UK market and can give customers better and quicker services. The UK is a large and interesting market for JB Well Solutions and has the highest priority.
“Our products have combined the latest technology with field experience and more than 20 years of equipment manufacturing experience. This will give UK customers access to the future products that demand increased safety, especially on the fire and gas protection part of the product. But also, remote operation and introduction to the upcoming Digital Oilfield is an important part of the future in UK Oil and Gas industry.”
Improving safety in the oil and gas industry
The JV will primarily support well service activity in the hazardous Zone 2 classification areas of the UK Continental Shelf, to improve safety in the oil and gas industry in offshore North Sea operations.
Zone 2 areas contain explosive gases making controlling ignition sources essential, especially near operating diesel engines. The company was established to provide the UK with a complete Zone 2-compliant service, offering servicing, component fitting and retro-fitting of diesel-driven machinery, as well as certification to international accreditation registrar DNV GL standards.
