Engineering services company Wood has secured a three-year contract to support Norwegian oil major Equinor’s operations at the Mariner field in the UK North Sea.

The Mariner field is located in Block 9/11A while the Mariner East is located in Block 9/11B on the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS).

The latest contract is valued at approximately $75m.

According to the contract, Wood will provide support for operations, maintenance, modifications and other offshore services on the Mariner A platform and Mariner B floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel.

The contract runs until the fourth quarter of 2023 with extension options.

Wood’s Aberdeen-based onshore and offshore teams will work on the project with support from some of the company’s global engineering centres.

Mariner field is Equinor’s first operated development in the UK North Sea.

Wood Europe and Africa operations services business president Craig Shanaghey said: “We are delighted to extend our strong partnership with Equinor to include support for their operations at the pioneering Mariner field.

“Wood has a long-standing track record of partnering with our clients to deliver safe, reliable, and optimised operations in the UKCS, and we look forward to extending that to include Mariner by leveraging our deep operational knowledge, experience, and digital capability.

“Mariner is still in its early years of production and, with Wood’s ambition to realise a digitally enabled future, we see excellent potential to explore new opportunities that will promote a lifetime of sustainable and responsible operations at the field.”

In February, Wood Group secured a contract from Chevron to deliver engineering design project for Anchor deepwater development in the US Gulf of Mexico.
