A global total of 54 planned floating production storage and offloading units (FPSOs) are set to commence operations by 2021, according to a report by GlobalData.

Titled ‘Q1 2017 Global FPSO Industry Outlook – Surge in Planned FPSO Delays’, the report provides insights into the global FPSO industry.

"In terms of operators, Petroleo Brasileiro, Royal Dutch Shell, and Cobalt International Energy will emerge as the top players globally with planned FPSOs of 18, three and two respectively."

In terms of continents, South America will lead with the highest number of planned FPSOs at 23, followed by Africa with ten, Europe with eight, Asia with seven, and Middle East with two.

Country-wise, Brazil will lead with 22 planned FPSOs, followed by the UK with seven, Angola with four, and Indonesia and Australia with two each. Other countries with one planned FPSO each include South Africa, Nigeria, the US, Congo Republic, Tunisia, Gabon, Ghana, Vietnam, Malaysia, Mexico, China, Brunei, India, Norway, Iran and Israel.
