ShawCor’s pipe coating division, Bredero Shaw, is to provide subsea insulation coatings for the Jack / St Malo project, which is operated by Chevron North America.
For the contract, which is worth over $40m, the firm will install subsea flowlines and risers 250 miles south-west of New Orleans in water depths of up to 7,200ft.
New Brigden modular coating facility is capable of applying FBE and multi-layer anti-corrosion systems, Thermotite syntactic polypropylene, solid and foam polypropylene. Thermotite ULTRA subsea thermal insulation systems will be used at the site.
Work also includes ID blasting and coating of about 92km of 10in pipe with a three-layer polypropylene anticorrosion coating and syntactic polypropylene thermal insulation.
The work will be executed at the Bredero Shaw pipe coating facility in Texas, US.
Qualification activities will begin during the first quarter of 2011 and full production is planned for the third quarter of 2011 through to the second quarter of 2012.
