Rockhopper Exploration has drilled the 14 / 10-4 appraisal well off the Falkland Islands.

Well 14 / 10-4 is the first appraisal well spudded on the Sea Lion feature situated on licence PL032, which is fully owned and operated by Rockhopper.

Located 2.3km from Sea Lion, the well was drilled to investigate reservoir and hydrocarbon columns downdip of the Sea Lion 14 / 10-2 discovery well.

The firm will examine the possibility of deeper sands than those encountered in the Sea Lion well at a planned target depth of 3,000m.

The well is expected to take about 38 days to drill to its target depth.
