Keppel AmFELS, a subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine, is to build a repeat jack-up rig worth $195m for Mexico’s Perforadora Central.

The high specification rig unit will be based on the LeTourneau Super 116E design and will be the first Super 116E newbuild with a capacity for an additional 1,500 kips of elevated load.

With leg lengths of 511ft, the rig will be capable of drilling wells of up to 30,000ft at a water depth of 375ft.

Perforadora Central is a Mexican firm that offers offshore and onshore drilling services mainly for PEMEX, Mexico’s national oil company.
