Technip has won an engineering, procurement, construction and installation contract worth €45m ($62.9m) for GDF Suez’s Gjoa field development in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.

Under the contract, the firm will design and fabricate two smoothbore gas export risers to connect the Gjoa platform with the gas export pipeline.

The contract will also include the removal of existing roughbore risers and the installation of two new smoothbore risers, along with tie-ins and precommissioning activities.

Technip will fabricate the risers in its pipe plant in Le Trait, France, and the offshore installation will be carried out by its Skandi Arctic vessel.

The installation will be completed in the second half of 2011.
