Bowleven has begun drilling the Sapele-2 well in the Douala Basin, off the coast of Cameroon.

The Sapele-2 well is being drilled to appraise the Omicron discoveries encountered in the Sapele-1 exploration well.

The well will penetrate both the Lower and Deep Omicron discoveries about 5km south-west of Sapele-1.

Bowleven will drill the well to an estimated target depth of 3,724m in water depths of around 25m using the Sapphire Driller jackup rig.

The activity is expected to take approximately 50 to 60 days to complete.
