Norwest Signs Drilling Contract with Weatherford International

Norwest has contracted Weatherford International Australia to drill its Arrowsmith-2 well for the EP413 joint venture in the Northern Perth Basin.

Weatherford’s rig 826 will be mobilised to the Arrowsmith well after completing its current drilling contract with Transdev for the Warro well, also in the Northern Perth Basin.

Norwest will drill the Arrowsmith well to a target depth of 3,400m in about 36 days to evaluate the viability of shale gas formations.

The primary targets are the Carynginia Formation and the Irwin River Coal Measures, while its secondary targets will be to evaluate the shale gas/condensate potential of the lower Kockatea Shale and the possibility of a conventional gas play in the High Cliff Sandstones.
