The well was drilled to a total depth of 1,598m, which confirmed the presence of gas in several intervals ranging in depth from 1,489m to 1,515m.
The company is evaluating the electric logs and cores obtained during the drilling to fully assess the gas discovery.
CAMAC Energy chief executive officer Kase Lawal said data from the well will be used to refine the location of the ZJS-05 well to assess the ZJS 3 structure’s resource potential.
ZJS-05 is expected to be drilled following the completion of the next planned well, ZJS-04, which will test the ZJS 2 structure on which a gas discovery was made last year, Lawal said.
CAMAC Energy owns 100% of the foreign contract interest in the Zijinshan production in partnership with PetroChina CBM.
