Keppel FELS has secured a contract worth $142m from Seadrill to build a repeat semi-submersible drilling tender (SSDT).

The new drill rig will feature a crane capacity of 250t, four mud pumps and accommodation for 160 personnel.

Keppel’s Deepwater Technology Group will design the rig, while Seadrill will supply the drilling equipment set.

The rig is scheduled to be delivered in the second quarter of 2013.
