Total has begun the development of the Ekofisk South and Eldfisk II projects in the southern-Norwegian North Sea on Production Licence (PL) 018.

Work on the Ekofisk South project includes a new platform (Ekofisk 2/4Z) with a capacity of 70,000 barrels of oil equivalent (boe) per day; and a new subsea facility (Ekofisk 2/4VB) at the Ekofisk complex.

These facilities will help in the drilling of 35 production and eight water-injection wells to further develop the Ekofisk field and increase oil recovery.

Work on the Eldfisk II project includes a new platform (Eldfisk 2/7S) at the Eldfisk complex with a capacity of 70,000 boe per day and to upgrade the existing facilities on the field.

The new facilities on the Eldfisk II project will enable the drilling of 30 production and nine water-injection wells to further develop the Eldfisk field and increase oil recovery.

Production from the Ekofisk and Eldfisk II projects is expected to start in 2014 and 2015 respectively.

The two projects will help in the development of around 450 million boe of reserves.
